Ex GARRARD SL-72B turntable which had physical damage to the speed selection controls so it was decided that this turntable become an "organ donor" - a worthy cause!
I am offering ONLY the switch body! Why? Well call me a bakelite freak but whenever I see a piece of moulded bakelite, I keep it! It would have been nice to also save the bronze contact springs but they did not survive the "operation" and are now useless to anyone.
What I am offering is the switch BODY, upper and lower sections, with one section of internal switch insulation made from a phenolic material and the two screws used to hold everything together (plus Plessey also used cloth tape originally!)
GARRARD - Mechanical Switch COVER ONLY
Garrard refers to these in the Service Manual as the motor switch (rather vaguely)
Removed from model SL-72B
Part # Unclear, looks to be 189 which is described as simply Motor with switch (Reference the Service Manual) however stamped INTO the bakelite are the markings 71882 (Black section) & RM (in a circle) 2
This switch turns the drive motor ON and OFF, subject to the angle of the tone-arm, not to be confused with the audio muting switch fitted on some models!
Both parts of the switch body have been through the "bakelite test" - she rubs up Yellow onto a white cloth and has that distinctive formaldehyde odour.
Lower section is all Black
Upper section is the very traditional Brown colouring
CONDITION:
USED
CLEAN
NO cracks or damage to either the lower or upper section of the switch body
I have now safely packed these components into sealed clear plastic, awaiting a new purpose in life!
