VERY LARGE cabinet (for a tuner) which is designed to partner with the very highly regarded AU-417
I did have the AU-417 but that has long ago found a new owner
All metal casing, front panel etc - no plastic used in the case other than the front panel decoration
Large on the outside, quite empty inside (see the photograph) - these were made to match the AU-417 amplifier.
Dimensions: 430mm x 168mm x 405mm (yes its like a large brick!)
Weight: 8.5Kg!!!
COSMETIC CONDITION:
Excellent condition all over.
The casing is NOT scratched
The front panel and controls, display etc are all unmarked
ALL lamps are working - these are the original lamps.
HISTORY - TESTING:
Used in our previous audio production business for general purpose monitoring, one of many excellent tuners we used to have. It has been in careful storage since I retired from the business. It is now time to find a new owner.
Retested prior to advertising and the results are: EXCELLENT
All lamps are fine, often these will fail over the years but this unit has every lamp operating. You can get replacement LED based lamps for these online.
Both AM and FM functioning as they should. Ferrite antenna at the back for AM reception is undamaged and works fine
FM muting, noise reduction, Auto lock or Manual (frequency) also work fine. FM stereo indicator works.
Very nice solid but great feeling tuning system without backlash
Output volume control working fine, no noise while rotating
SPECIAL NOTES: I am always extremely interested in the build quality/layout etc inside the equipment, thus the internal photograph.
NO modifications or repairs have ever been made to this equipment - it is in original condition.
I do know that some audio enthusiasts like to mod this equipment and searching online will yield the information to provide some "improvement" in the already great audio quality.
Some even fit LED lamps instead of the incandescent lamps - that is a bit like fitting a rotary dial to a manual telephone, urghhhh
Even after all these years, this tuner is operating like the day we bought it - perfectly, and it looks very imposing as well!
