HISTORY:
Intended for consumer use but we found it useful for "quick and dirty" switching of audio visual signals.
Yes, it is dated but a still perfectly functional passive switch (no active electronics/no power source required) intended to allow the user to switch 4 channels of video, audio channel 1 (Right) & audio channel 2 (Left) to one output but being passive it can be used in "either direction" so you can switch a single source to four different outputs.
All interconnections use RCA female sockets
Switching from the front panel is undertaken using a 4 position interlocking switch i.e selecting one channel releases all others.
ARCHER was a sub-brand name used by Radioshack who in turn were part of the Tandy Corporation (USA). Archer products were manufactured to their specifications initially in Japan but later in Taiwan - this is one of the later (1990's) units.
At the time these products were not generally considered to be of high quality, based mainly on the Asian origins but for simple switching functions this box is fine. No special features such as clocking, frame sync etc! but it satisfies the simple task of "brute" switching multiple sources.
ARCHER (RADIOSHACK/TANDY) - 4 Channel AV Passive Selector Switchbox
