I had a beautiful sounding Grundig Space Fidelity PA3 system (see the photograph of this 1990's contemporary system - space age looking and fantastic sound!) Unique side-lobing mid range & tweeters and the bass produced within a sealed coffin inside the unit, these two woofers facing each other and rear ported.
However, sadly the CD loader failed so I have decided to "part out" the useful components of the system
In this advertisement I am offering just ONE of the "Wing" mid range speakers
KW SIPE
I am unsure where this speaker was made but I do believe it is an OEM product supplied to Grundig, not manufactured by Grundig.
On the rear it is clearly marked as:
KW (Speaker symbol) SIPE (Ohm symbol)
27 97 4
1914412161
I can tell you that the centre number codes mean:
27 = 27th week of the manufacturing year i.e late June/July
97 = 1997 is the year of manufacture
4 = 4 Ohms impedance
Rubber surround with an acrylic type of cone (not paper)
Large 70mm x 30mm magnet
650g packed weight
Working absolutely beautifully when installed in the system, unfortunately I damaged the other speaker when removing it from the "Wing Tube" on the PA3, which means I only have ONE speaker.
I have confirmed the DC resistance of the voice coil as 3.6 Ohm
I have seen some comments on German sites that these speakers were made by a manufacturer for the auto audio industry, originally. But I have no idea where SIPE was based although I feel it is a safe bet to assume these are of European origin.
