Great 70's look, great vintage Polk sound
From our audio post production facilities, loved caressed but no longer required
These let you feel you are with the performers, great realistic sound - particularly the lo end response which is very apparent with percussion but not too "forward" just natural and realistic
Polk Stereo Loudspeaker System
Released to market 1982 - 85
At the time (30 years ago) these had a retail price of US$800/pair
Mission 11 R.T.A - Real Time Array
Not to be confused with the Mission 11T - a later release with different configuration.
Considered to be one of the most respected in the vintage Polk range
Smooth frequency response 19Hz - 26Khz
Nominal Impedance: 6 Ohms
Power Handling range 100W - 200W per cabinet
Claimed 92dB efficiency
Each enclosure comprises:
1x 1" SL1000 Peerless Tweeter
2x 6.5" 6510 Mid Range
1x 10" Fluid Coupled Sub Woofer
Special 3 phase cross-over network design and these speakers are what is called mirror imaged. It is very important that the Left and Right cabinets are placed on the correct sides, the L and R on the rear is not for stupid people but for a reason.
Specific speaker details:
Tweeters are Peerless USA.
Tweeters - hole in the centre (that is how they were designed)
No ID markings on the rear except 5514 2182
The numbers 5514 indicate these are USA made Peerless and the last two numbers indicate the year of manufacture as 1982
Large magnet and all areas at the rear seem to be filled with a white powder intentionally added.
Have a look here for more info on the Peerless tweeters used

Drivers - nothing marked on the magnets
Rubber surround SR142/17
Sub woofer - nothing marked on the magnets, THERE IS NONE - this is a passive device.
Rubber surround SR278/6
This is because of Polk's unique passive-radiator technology, Polk calls it "high-resonance fluid-coupled subwoofer"
The loudspeakers work within the sealed cabinet, if you gently move the cone of a driver, you will see the other driver cone also move as a result. Same for the sub woofer but that is more difficult to see due to the front covering.
They sound excellent with just about every style of music.
Particularly outstanding performance from the Peerless tweeter
Shoot loads of good clean audio to these and you will not be disappointed.
Fairly large and heavy!
Dimensions each cabinet: 420mm Wide x 300mm Deep x 808mm Height
Constructed of thick 20mm high density fibreboard , including the removeable front grill.
Timber grain veneer finish
Heavy duty Black cloth front grill
Metal Polk badge
Safety fuse fitted to each cabinet (rear) 1A - it actually supposed to be 750mA Fast Blow but 1A is still ok - this fuse protects the tweeter.
Pull the fuse out while running and the "air" disappears - the tweeters are then not running.
Extremely hard to find and these are in great condition cosmetically and acoustically.
Veneer has just very superficial scratches, particularly on the top but absolutely nothing serious - they look great!
I guess the "worst" area (and it's not bad anyway) is the base because these were sitting on our spike supports, so this leaves little dents on the base - but that is the extent of any damage.
Spike speaker supports are NOT included - another lucky person has already bought them.
Black cloth has no holes in each grill and is clean
TESTING:
It's quite a job lugging these around but I checked them before this listing and am using them every day - they sound great!! Listening sessions are welcome BUT keep in mind that my office at the house is a mess (we are moving) and certainly not the most ideal listening environment!
But that said, I am listening to these right now and the audio is very good, kicks sound like kicks and the hi hats/cymbals are very realistic - ce la vie oh great ones!
Best if they were tried at your location but there is no way I am going to drive these around Sydney "just for a listen"
$350 is my price - this includes lugging them around Sydney metro area if necessary, possibly even to the Central Coast or down to the Gong but no further.
A courier COULD be used but it would not be cheap, these would require considerable packing and the shipping weight would end up being around 60kg for them both
