High quality and innovative audio technology from Denmark.
TC Electronic is a well respected manufacturer of high end audio equipment and although dating from the 1990's, this unit is a real gem for serious analog audio production, both in sound reinforcement or the studio.
TC Electronics
Model: 1128X Slave EQ
Designed & made in Denmark
Rear panel is identical to the TC1128 BUT this slave also has the RS485 (Ver 2.0) module fitted
Mid - late 1990's production
1RU mount (300mm deep)
Tough steel case (heavy @ 5Kg)
AC power switchable: 100-120-220-240 (currently set for 240)
User manual (printed) is available if required
It is extremely important to realise this is a SLAVE UNIT TC1128X (denoted by the X in the model number) and would normally be under the control of a TC1128
The 1128 EQ/Spectrum Analyser is a single analog audio channel unit, add a slave such as this 1128X for two channel work - the main TC1128 unit takes control of the slave unit via Midi
For the day, and even now, this 1128/1128X equipment is very highly regarded in the world of analog audio technology - under digital control.
These are even more attractive now because although the equipment originally had an RRP of around $2500, but these days they can be picked up for a fraction of that cost.
Note: this is now legacy product and no longer supported by TC Electronics - if something goes wrong, TC Electronics will not be able to help
The specifications (and user reviews) of this equipment are truly outstanding and a long time ago we found this equipment to be extremely useful in the studios both for precision EQ work and spectrum analysis of the analog audio stream.
See a couple of the photographs to view the design criteria and specifications of the 1128
Typical setup for two channel operation is to have a TC1128 as your main unit (Channel A), plus a TC1128X (Channel B) working under control of the main unit. The TC1128X has full single channel analog signal processing with most control being undertaken remotely via Midi interface.
I no longer have a TC1128 main unit but these are still readily available online for great prices.
COSMETIC CONDITION: Very good
Case is not damaged other some superficial scratches from rack insertion/removal at times.
Front panel is undamaged
Rear panel is undamaged
TESTING: All as expected
Its been tucked away for quite a while since we closed our audio production business, so it was fired up once again today...
Powers up fine
Checked internally, the Lithium battery is shot (no volts) which comes as no surprise after at least 10 years since we used this. This will mean you cannot save presets, the unit has a brain but no memory unless the battery is replaced. This is a button battery, side mounted and marked only as SANYO Li - it will need to be desoldered from the board (right next to the RS485 option board)
Anyway I then set up a preset communications channel (for the MIDI to chat with the main TC1128) - no problems.
I made sure I could go "on line" or "off line" and disable the EQ
The overload indicator and MIDI comms indicator are both off, which is normal because there I am not feeding in any audio or have any MIDI connection!
That's as far as I can go without a TC1128 to setup EQ curves etc - so I have really only checked the comms side of things, not the audio.
However, when last used it was fine and dandy on the audio side, in fact super fine and dandy! Nice sound through this gear.
