Vintage vocal/instrument microphone
1970's
AOL Microphone
Made in Japan
I cannot find any information about the manufacturer, this may have been a rebadged product - in which case it is likely to be Sony or a similar large manufacturer
Model: DM-150
High Z output
Omni directional
Barrel mounted ON/OFF
Champagne Gold finish
Due to the era this microphone came from, the base connector is an old style Amphenol audio socket.
Matching audio lead (6 metres long) with the matching Amphenol connector at one end and a standard TS jack at the other
Unbalanced output
Strong body (metal? or metalised plastic)
Nice metal, undamaged head grill
Physical dimensions:
170mm body length
60mm head diameter
Weighs 150g (quite light for a hand microphone, with leads us to believe the body is a metallised plastic material - to hold the microphone it feels "top heavy")
I have no frequency response characteristics information but I don't think the user can expect anything startling - the microphone is being offered for sound experimentation
COSMETIC CONDITION:
Average condition, no real damage just some superficial marks to the body
Head grill is clean and with no signs of rust (from vocalists "spraying" all over the head
The lead is undamaged (and unmarked so I don't know who made the cable) and both connectors are in great condition.
TESTING:
Fully operational, good clean audio of what my sound engineer described as "average" nothing exceptional but fun to play with
SPECIAL NOTE - the worst aspect of the microphone is that no matter what, both my sound engineer and myself were unable to unscrew the top of the head. We would have loved to view the element used and general condition of the filters etc but the head does not budge at all - so I cannot tell much about the internals of this microphone.
Old school dynamic microphone for audio experimentation
