Curious lapel microphone speaker units, branded Uniden but the old connectors were typically used with Kenwood transceivers - it doesn't matter now as the old curly cord and connectors have been discarded.
UNIDEN Portable transceiver lapel microphone speaker
The only indication of a model is printed inside each unit
Y90 5
Nice weather resistant casing using inner rubber seal and external components such as the PTT and earpiece socket are all rubber.
Strong metal clamp inside the case for the curly cord entry point
Excellent case condition - no cracks or other damage
Electrically fully functional
Electret microphone insert
Mylar loudspeaker
Positive completely sealed PTT switch action
4 wire output
Black/Red is the loudspeaker/earpiece audio feed
Yellow/shield is the microphone audio output
Push to talk button is in series with the microphone insert, so the yellow mic audio line is normally open circuit, push the PTT button and the yellow line becomes 2.4K Ohms with respect to ground (the insert resistance)
Lapel clip on the rear of the microphone/speaker
Very nice physical size, easy to hold and not heavy
OBVIOUSLY THE USER NEEDS TO FIT A NEW CURLY CORD TO SUIT THEIR TRANSCEIVER.
Although a nice microphone/speaker unit, the original curly cord had seriously deteriorated with age and simply fell apart - the old cable has been carefully removed ready for fitting a new one.
I have left "tails" at the connection points for the microphone and speaker to assist the new owner.
