Ex broadcast equipment "pull" i.e USED
Oh my, Stevens & Billington (UK) are considered the "royalty" of audio transformers, one of their most well known products is the famous TX103 Moving Coil step up transformer (with a price to match the reputation!)
STEVENS & BILLINGTON - Low Signal Level Audio Input Transformer
Model: A224
Made in UK
Mu metal case
Completely sealed
Single primary
Single secondary
Ratio unknown
Expected frequency range would be at least up to 15Khz, quite standard for broadcast industry use.
Technical specifications are a bit "thin on the ground" - I had datasheets for this transformer but cannot find them. I did find one of schematics for the input stage this transformer was used in (Microphone input) which may assist to determine suitability for purpose.
Stevens & Billington (UK) have a website HERE - there is no transformer data relevant to this transformer and in fact I suspect this A224 may be a "special" custom manufacture. In that example circuit, the microphones used were Low Z.
Like ALL low level input transformers, NEVER apply DC voltages to the windings - these are precision components intended for extremely low voltage AC use.
DIMENSIONS:
24.8mm W x 19mm D x 20mm H
6x PCB mounting pins 2 of which are connected to the case, the remaining 4 are the primary/secondary windings
The only ID markings on the transformer are the name, contact phone numbers and the Stevens & Billington company Logo along with the identification A224
COSMETIC CONDITION:
Carefully removed from obsolete UK manufactured analog broadcast equipment (from the 1990's)
NO pins have been shortened
Reasonably clean pins, ready to use once again
NO physical damage to the casing
Packed, sitting on a bed of compressed foam and sealed within a clear plastic packet
