Audio transformer
Unknown manufacturer
Round, sealed metal can - probably Mu metal
Measures: 20mm diameter x 22mm high
Two threaded holes in the base for mounting (screws supplied)
Flying leads 40mm length
Markings are pretty vague I'm afraid...
IT - 425
T E
I would date this transformer as being from equipment produced in the 1990's but as I have salvaged masses of equipment over the years, I did not keep a record of which equipment these came from.
COSMETIC CONDITION:
Excellent
I really wanted to take a look inside the can but besides the 3 solder points at the base, it has been spot pressed together so I did not continue trying to open it up - to do so would most likely have destroyed it!
TESTING (limited)
DC Resistance tests
Red/Green leads - 52.2 Ohm
Black/White leads - 45.6 Ohm
As I have a few different audio transformers that I no longer need, I decided to dig out some basic test equipment to provide more detail on the transformer characteristics
Test equipment used: AWA Low Distortion Audio Oscillator G232, Leader AC Voltmeter
Input to the transformer under test was made at 100mV @ 1Khz, 10Khz & 20Khz
Using test signal, I have determined the following:
Turns ratio: 0.98
Impedance ratio: 0.96
Frequency response (a very rough test and not graphed) was flat from 1Khz to 20Khz which is what I would expect for an input transformer being used in broadcast equipment.
Note that these tests were not exhaustive but at least shine a little more light on the capabilities of this transformer
