USED Workshop Stock (although unused for a LONG time!)
I am cleaning up ALL the various leads, patch cables and raw cable stock that we had on hand in the workshops, this is a nice old 'Grandaddy' of test leads, well one end anyway ... a nice Brass BPO 316 TRS plug at one end and using some vintage two core 5.2mm diameter cable on which it is difficult to read the White print on the sheath but this is either Australian Broadcasting contract cable or ASC branded (Australian Standard Cables) so hard to read after all these years!
The 'far end' medium size alligator clips are more contemporary and do need a 'tidy up' ... please read below what I mean by this
AUDIO TEST LEAD
General purpose old school test lead for two channel audio work
Very nice Brass body BPO 316 TRS plug with an outer sleeve which COULD be bakelite, not sure about this
Cable length is 1.2 metre
Cable is also of a similar vintage as the plug but it is not easy to identify this cable as there only remains partial ID markings, I can make out AUSTRALIAN and that's about it!
Breaks out at the other end to 3x alligator clips
Maximum spread of the alligator clips (to reach the test points) is 150mm
TESTING:
Weird colour coding used, why TWO Reds? It would be a good idea to change one of the alligator boot colours to something other than Red or Black, at the moment both of the Red alligator clips are signal 'hot' but unless marked, you have no idea which channel you are testing.
I have marked in small print on the two Red boots, I & II to help identify which point on the plug they connect to
BPO
Tip goes to Alligator clip RED II
Ring goes to Alligator clip RED I
Sleeve goes to Alligator clip GREEN
COSMETIC CONDITION:
USED
Old Workshop Stock
CLEAN
NO damage to the lead sheath (no nicks, cuts etc)
NO damage to the alligator clips - nice spring & grip action HOWEVER .... there is a 'spruce up' needed at this end of the cable
The exit wires from the cable have an end heatshrink seal, that's fine BUT one of the wire lengths (going to the Green alligator clip) the insulation PVC has practically all fallen off. Even though this is signal ground usually, still not a great look.
To get things back to A1 condition, the new owner will need to strip back the cable to reveal new flying wires to the alligator clips and reapply a heatshrink seal at the cable end.
Supplied in a sealed clear plastic packet
