HISTORY:
I am cleaning up ALL the various leads, patch cables etc that we had on hand hanging around in the audio workshop area. Each lead is advertised separately and I have attempted to provide as much information as possible about the lead.
This cable, although short and only suitable for use as an audio patch lead, has history!
In the "good 'ol days", government organisations would tender out their needs and contracts awarded based upon the tender requirements. We are talking around the 1980's and prior, buying Australian product was a big thing and also having your organisation name all over the items they required was another, this created an "identity" for the organisation.
This short length of audio cable is one of those items, tendered for by Australian Broadcasting Corporation and based upon their requirements. Not such a big thing these days, "ABC workshops" are a shadow of their previous entity and equipment purchases these days tend to be "off the shelf"/best bang for the buck type of asset purchase.
While not of especially high technical standards, this cable is a sample of those days.
Geez Russ, why keep such mundane things? ( I hear you ask)
I am a technical creature of the past, I love all things made by hand (point to point wiring, single sided boards etc) and OLD technology based on analog signals - no 0's & 1's but lovely flowing sine, sawtooth, triangular and square waves.
I actually had a lot more of this cable and using some very nice all Brass jack plugs, we made up some "special" patch leads for jack fields - just for fun but impressive none-the-less
Those leads were all snapped up by the first person who saw them and now there is just this lonely length of cable, it is waiting for a new home - someone who can fashion it into a nice vintage patch lead and pump audio through it!
