INTRODUCTION:
Denon's DP-30L is a great turntable, good entry level, well designed and engineered.
Nice heavy beastie - weighs around 10Kg, good solid platter
Drive drive motor is made to last, one of the largest and best made that I have seen - built like a battleship
The DP-30L features a good solid speed control (feedback loop compared with a reference signal)
Auto lift without using any gears, this works very nicely
No clumsy gear systems around the tonearm which might restrict free movement of the arm - end of record detection is via a photo interrupter system.
From an engineering viewpoint, very sensibly laid out - easy to work on
My DP-30L was one of our turntables in our audio production facilities, sitting alongside Linn Sondek LP12's, Technics SP-10's and others.
This Denon DP-30L did its job well (one of our studios specialised in audio archival work) but it has seen better days cosmetically, the tonearm was accidently destroyed by a clumsy staff member and the turntable body had "graffitti issues" so I am parting out the major parts I think might be useful to someone.
Prior to advertising these various sub-sections, the turntable has been powered up today one more time and I checked the most important aspects - motor noise, speed control, end of record detection and the tonearm lift system. Not only functional checks but voltages and control signals where applicable.
EVERYTHING was functioning exactly as it should.
While dissassembling, sometimes I have had to desolder the connecting wires, I have included photographs which should help with re-assembly or servicing
I can also supply a good service manual for this turntable, in pdf format.
You could build up a complete DP-30L with these sub-systems I am offering, the only parts needed are the heavy white/cream body, metal plate underneath the platter and the black base underneath.
All mounting screws for each sub-section are supplied along with the electronics
Denon Direct Drive Turntable
Model: DP-30L
Part number: various - refer service manual
Tonearm Base, complete with pivot, base nut, shaft ring, push plate, end of record sensors etc
This basically means all components relating to the tonearm EXCEPT the tonearm, please look at the photographs for details. If you cannot see something, it is not included.
All components are excellent condition
Complete with all mounting hardware, spring etc
Flying leads (4) which have been desoldered from the main board, points 11 & 12 (LED emitter) and 13 & 14 (CDS light detector) - make sure you reinstal these the correct way around!
Fully tested when the turntable had its "final spin" - no problems at all, I checked the sensor led was working (visible light not IR) and the receiver CDS - end of record function worked perfectly (manual test without the tonearm of course)
Since removal from the turntable, these tonearm related components are now stored in a sealed plastic bag
