HISTORY:
Sustainability is the name of the game! Anything (that has been tested and still functioning properly) should be repurposed creating saving in wasted Ee and reducing the poisoning our environment when items are buried in the earth at the local tip needlessly.
Never heard of Ee? It is a concept that creates a measurement of ALL things (not just electronics) that humans have made and the energy used in obtaining the raw material, processing the materials right through to a finished product and even should include the shipping of the item to the distributors/retailers.
If you would like to know more about Ee values, please take a look HERE
This electronic component is NEW, old stock.
Here's the thing .... who made this connector?
It is heavy, well made and looks like a typical NEUTRIK or SWITCHCRAFT but I cannot find identification that makes any sense to me!
For details about the construction and comments about this plug, please read on ...
UNIDENTIFIED - XLR Plug
Type: 3 pin
Orientation: Right Angle
Gender: Male
Part # unknown
Finish is a matt Jet Black
Diecast metal body
Plastic screw on cable grip
Rubber boot
I cannot confirm the contact material, all silver colour (with no signs of a slight yellow which typical of older Silver plating) so let's go with Nickel plated contact areas
DIMENSIONS:
40mm front to back
70mm top to end of the boot
19mm diameter front
24mm diameter "bulbous" rear
Rubber cable boot exit hole diameter 5mm
WEIGHT:
65g - this is one noticeably heavy plug (a typical Neutrik or Switchcraft comes in at around 35g)
CONSTRUCTION (Comments)
While it looks similar to a NEUTRIK product for example, it has been constructed differently. The body has a bulbous shape towards the rear and the rear (where your thumb might rest) is flat, not round. Beautifully made and even the cable grip has little slots to ensure it fits one way only.
Access inside the plug? There is a small black screw on the top, undo and then the 3 pin insert comes out in the forward direction (keyed)
The insert plastic colour is a light grey and it DOES have a logo stamped into it but I do not know who it is!
It looks a bit like a NEUTRIK logo but then again, it's not ... I have tried to take a photograph of it, but I cannot show it effectively (all the same colour and only slightly raised from the surrounding plastic)
I would best describe the logo as having two parts .... a large Z (stylised) with an upside down T down the middle of the Z. The top of the T (which is now at the bottom of the logo) is quite short, shorter than normal. ZT? never heard of it ...
