Removed from a YAMAHA Dual Cassette Deck - part of the Natural Sound Series
Over time, these heads wear and especially if not cared for, cleaned, they will exhibit loss of high frequencies in particular. It is possible that this head assembly is used in other Yamaha tape equipment but the user needs to determine it's suitability in equipment other than the KX W302
The KX-W302 has two head assemblies, one for each deck (A & B) and they do DIFFER, make sure you get the correct head assembly.
The KX-W302 uses deck A for general recording and playback, whereas deck B is used as a source (playback) ONLY - no recordings are made using deck B.
The major difference between the head assemblies is that the deck A head assembly includes the erase head - the deck B head assembly has NO ERASE HEAD.
This advertisement is only for the deck B head assembly
YAMAHA Head Assembly (NO erase head fitted)
Ex Yamaha KX-W302 Dual Cassette Deck (Deck B)
Part # C7 (this is the only marking on the head assembly)
Hardware mounting for the assembly is included, being two very small screws
Head Assembly Information:
Read-Write Head
Head material: Soft ferrous
Head type: 4 track, 2 channel record & playback
I do not have more technical information about this head i.e impedance, DC resistance, gap dimensions etc
It is advisable that once the head is fitted into the equipment under repair, de-magnetisation is undertaken (with a demagnetising wand) to ensure there is no residual magnetism on the head which would result in a degraded high frequency response.
COSMETIC CONDITION:
Head assembly is clean and undamaged
Head faces show little signs of wear, clean and shiny
The assembly is complete and exactly as mounted in the deck mechanism. The flying leads remain intact.
Since removal from the equipment, I have now placed this head assembly onto foam to protect the head face/gap and then into sealed plastic
