Nakamichi represents the best in cassette machine design, the "Rolls Royce" of cassette tape recorders.
The Japanese word is 優秀 meaning excellence.
I had a number of Nakamichi's, this 480 was one of my frequently used machines until it just had too many problems to put up with any longer - 40+ years is a long time and eventually parts begin to fail.
Prior to carefully taking this machine apart, it was FULLY FUNCTIONING but the power ON/OFF switch finger had broken and all the rubber in the transport needs replacing and a complete clean - I have other machines to play with so hopefully others can make use of these Nakamichi parts/sub sections.
Nakamichi Cassette Recorder Model 480 SPARE PART
Complete set of front panel buttons & bezels
This hardware is completely mechanical, there are no electronics - think of the buttons as "fingers" which activate switches behind them.
I have carefully removed (and taken the glue off) all of the activating buttons:
POWER ON-OFF
EJECT
COUNTER RESET
MEMORY
TAPE TYPE (2)
MPX
DOLBY NR
EQ
The indicator bezels are for
REC
PLAY
PAUSE
All buttons are spring loaded except the Power ON-OFF button
All springs are in great shape
All buttons and the bezels have been cleaned from any glue residue
NO PARTS ARE DAMAGED OR BROKEN
NOTE: I do have the knobs for the level controls (left-right) but decided to put them in with the main board and those sliders.
They are not included with these buttons.
