As removed from a lovely Champagne Marantz Stereo Amplifier Model: PM 310
This item is "as in the photographs" i.e complete Champagne (light Gold colouring) metal front panel, including the complete Power Level meter board
Offered as spare parts for the PM 310
Notice the "technical detail" that Marantz used in the labelling of this front panel i.e extremely precise power level information (down to 0.005 Watts and even the speaker system reference impedance is indicated) and the Volume control is calibrated in non-linear dB steps 2dB then 3dB then 5dB as the level is increased - none of this 1 ~ 10 numbering! This level control in "steps" is achieved using a normal pot but with a rear mechanical arrangement which provides light indenting as the knob is rotated, nice!
Marantz Stereo Amplifier SPARE PART ONLY
Model: PM 310
Marantz part # various
Complete front panel (with mounting screws) and including the Power Level meter sub-board (PX-01)
Champagne (Pale Gold coloured) anodised aluminium
COSMETIC CONDITION:
Ratings are pretty subjective but I will attempt to "score" various aspects of this assembly
FRONT PANEL FINISH: 8/10 no dents, some scratches, clean - there is very light oxidisation/pitting in a couple of areas e.g just above the MARANTZ label in the centre but (in my opinion) this is not too bad at all. Also in the same area (top of the front panel frame) are some very short "edge scratches" as though the panel had been rubbing on something in the past.
FRONT PANEL DECALS: 9/10 sharp clean labelling, no rubbing/part label damage, no missing letters/numbers/symbols
The Power Level driver PCB is mounted inside the front panel and is GLUED into place by Marantz (nice one Marantz but this was how they did these things back in the 1970's)
Flying leads from this board are "as original' no cuts or damage and ready to resolder to the headphone sub-board and main board (6 connections in total)
TESTING:
Prior to removal from the amplifier, the power level meter module is known to be fully functioning. This PX-01 sub-board is not a passive board but does have the AN6552 and 2x TL489C semi's to drive the indicator led display.
The board is pretty simple in design, one lead receives audio via the headphone socket on both channels and the other lead is DC only (15-0-15 plus 5V)
The board is tightly glued into the rear of the front panel (no screws at all) and I have left it this way, it may not be easy to remove!
SUMMARY:
A nice 'drop in' replacement front panel for the PM 310, great replacement if your existing panel has been damaged by the user OR the Power Level pcb has been damaged (excessive voltage from the main board is the most likely issue) - no need to mess around finding replacement IC's, just replace the whole front panel.
Since removal I have carefully packed and sealed this front panel assembly in plastic to maintain its clean condition and prevent damage to the PCB (which tends to "hang out the back" a little.
