As removed from a lovely Champagne Marantz Stereo Amplifier Model: PM 310
These are the front panel mechanical switch controls for:
SUBSONIC FILTER
TAPE 1 MONITOR
LOUDNESS
INPUT SELECTOR
Offered as spare parts for the PM 310 OR possibly the switches or mechanical components could be used in other Marantz or non-Marantz equipment. I have provided some detail that may help decide if these could be used in other equipment.
Marantz Stereo Amplifier SPARE PART ONLY
Model: PM 310
Marantz part # various
Front panel accessible audio control switches
The sections Subsonic filter - Tape 1 Monitor - Loudness are all "push on push off" locking switches
They are mounted onto a metal frame and the first two switches have the original PCB still connected
The Loudness switch is NOT connected to this PCB and uses flying leads to connect to the main board
All switches are DPDT
Buttons are NOT supplied, these are offered as part of a "knob/button set" I have on offer separately.
The input selection switch is a customised assembly. The front rotary control is purely mechanical, no switching takes place here. Rotary motion of the input selector know is converted to horizontal motion (via a steel band) that moves the 3 position slide switch mounted on the main board.
COSMETIC CONDITON:
Clean and undamaged switches and PCB
Interconnecting leads are the same length as in the original wiring i.e de-soldered not cut.
The locking mechanism on ALL switches works fine, positive action.
NOTE: although these are all mounted on a metal frame, they are NOT interlocking.
The mechanical drive band for the input selector is in excellent condition with no kinks or damage (NEVER bend these!) as is the nylon gearing system, no cracks and no missing teeth!
TESTING:
Prior to dismantling, the amplifier was fully functioning (cosmetic case damage deemed it as not worth restoring)
All switch contacts have been cleaned.
The rotary input selector mechanism was carefully examined for damage, non observed. The multi-contact 3 way slide switch (which is normally mounted directly onto the main board) has been removed. No contact damage but a little "untidy" looking after de-soldering.
The drive "band" (180mm length) between the front panel mechanicals and the actual slide switch is marked as follows:
Matsushita WM-1000
NEVER ATTEMPT TO SHARPLY BEND, CRIMP OR CREASE ANY PART OF THE BAND
E56953
ESA 33 3169 B
It may be possible to remove the band at each end of the control system but I have made no attempt to do this, the front panel control - band - slide switch are supplied as one complete assembly.
I have now safely sealed all of these knobs in plastic to maintain their present condition and keep out dust/dirt.
