Ex workshop spare parts, time for me to find new owners of these components
We always had a number of audio related valves in our audio post production workshops, for musicians who suddenly were in dire need ... I do NOT service equipment any longer and these parts no longer have any purpose for me.
An unfortunate fact, like much of the audio industry, is that there are a lot of "tales" going around about various tubes and the ECC83 is one of them. Way back in the dark mists of time (1950's and earlier) the 12AX7 was the type number used by the American market and the Europeans used the ECC83 as their tube designation (principally Mullards & Philips) they are the same tube, different numbering system.
Often a retailer will "push" for you to buy an ECC83 over a 12AX7 (or vice versa) because that is the brand THEY ARE KEEPING IN STOCK, nothing to do with one being better than the other.
Sure, some slight modifications are found from time to time but the basic structure of the tubes is the same.
Take a deep breath and have a read HERE to get an informed (not 'snake oil' talk) discussion about the various tube type numbers
Personally, I have no preference one over another and it was our client who decided which tube suited them best, so we used to keep on hand many different valves from a wide range of different manufacturers to suit our client needs. Some clients would ONLY use Mullards, others only xxx brand .... its more a personal choice then anything tangible.
JJ - Valve (Tube "Bottle")
Made in Slovak Republic
TYPE: ECC83 S
Gold pins
Double Triode small signal amplifier
Commonly used in guitar amplifiers and consumer audio amplifiers
Old Stock (approximately 2012)
NEW Unused
Original boxes
I have just three of these and it looks as though they have never been opened, even our standard emission test results are not indicated on the boxes or tubes (it was standard practice for our techs to test every single valve upon receipt to determine matching primarily but it appears this was done with these three)
I will supply in any quantity, single, a pair or all three (and discounting does automatically occur for 2+ quantities)
I am clearing out the workshop stocks (business closed down) and the availability of these valves is strictly limited and will not be ongoing - once all have found new homes, there will be no more.
Take a look HERE for current pricing from one Australian retailer but I have found that an increasing number of suppliers & retailers have very limited or no stocks due to the war in Ukraine and the subsequent effects on production and supply. Prices seem to be going upwards, fast (if you can get them)!
