Oh Dear! This item has been sold but take a look around for other similar items

Ex 1980's AWA but not made in Australia, but assembled at the Nippon-Columbia, Japan factory! - the same place as Denon products were initially made.

Once upon a time (for a very long time), Amalgamated Wireless (AWA) was a power-house in the Australian electronics industry, then things took a downturn and eventually the AWA brand was sold off to others and the AWA name became just a badge to stick on the front of their products. None of these later products were made in Australia however, they were just using the highly respected AWA name to give legitimacy to their products.

The equipment this AC power transformer was removed from looks so similar to Denon branded product and in fact this AWA Model SA-12 amplifier had the Nippon-Columbia ID badge on the rear panel. It was very well engineered and constructed but I just couldn't bear the thought of an AWA product being made in Japan so I disassembled this abomination and kept some of the useful parts - this transformer is one of those parts.

It is very likely this transformer will be a 'drop in" replacement for other Denon audio equipment or even adapted for use with other brands, subject to their voltage and current requirements and the physical limitations.

Ex AWA (but assembled at the Nippon-Columbia factory, Japan)

Model: SA-12 Stereo Power Amplifier (low profile)

The SA-12 was a 50W per channel audio power amplifier with a dual DC supply rail of 30V +/- and very similar to the DENON PMA-710 (but without the Power Output meters) and I was struck by the similarity in design and general layout between the two amplifiers.

Part: AC Power Transformer (ONLY)

Part # 2335318009 (Similar numbering sequence as used by Denon in their products)

AC input (Purple/White): 240V 50Hz (this was wound for Australian supplies)

AC outputs (two secondary windings):

Red/Red: 57V & 2A estimated (Power Amplifier)

Blue/Blue/Black: 12V-8V-0V (one winding, with tap) @ 1A estimated (Preamplifier/driver and auxiliary circuits)

Dimensions: 90mm wide x 105mm length x 78mm high

Weight: 2.8Kg (heavy!)

Substantial pure copper external flux band (This acts as a shorted turn, but only to the leakage flux)

Four base mounting holes (threaded) supplied with matching bolts

Spaced 70mm apart in one orientation and 75mm apart the other

Flying leads are a minimum of 150mm in length for all

NOTE: the wires used for these leads are wire-wrap/solid core single - this was the age of extensive wirewrapping being used in construction, but they will solder fine as well.

COSMETIC CONDITION:

Clean and with no signs of ever being "stressed"

No physical damage at all

TESTING:

Known to be working prior to removal from the equipment but I re-tested the isolation and AC secondary voltages upon removal, just to be sure, and the results are above.

100% working fine and ready to bring life to another piece of equipment!

Tested as described in the description This item is not returnable, UNLESS dead on arrival
