As removed from my Radio Shack Nova-6 speaker system
Cabinet was a mess so I have "parted out" the speaker system
The Nova-6 bookshelf speaker system used Japanese manufactured loudspeakers, marketed by Radio Shack USA (Tandy)
Included is an extract from the Radio Shack USA catalogue, 1977
Pretty expensive when consider the prices indicated are now 40 years old.
Radio Shack marketed many innovative products sourced from Japan, rebadged from reputable manufacturers of the time. These loudspeakers are generally considered "acceptable" and not too bad but I am unaware of the original OEM for these.
Interestingly (to me), they also released some electrostatic loudspeakers but I have never had a chance to listen to these.
8" Woofer Loudspeaker
Impedance: 8 Ohm
Stamped on the rear:
WOOFER 8 Ohm

JAPAN
52. 4. 21N
Radio Shack used a 40-xxxx catalogue numbering system for their loudspeakers but these woofers were not offered as a catalogue item.
Nice solid sound, good bass handling abilites (down to around 30Hz)
I couldn't find any specifications regarding sensitivity etc
Large 4" diameter x 1.5" height rear magnet
Estimated power handling to around 25 Watts - this is based on the fact that Radio Shack "paired" the NOVA-6 speaker system with their STA-64 Receiver which had a power output capability of 25W RMS per channel.
PHYSICAL CONDITION:
No damage at all, cone/surround all intact with no tears/holes etc
Voice coil moves smoothly without "scrapping"
Suspension system is in good condition
Basket is undamaged
It may be noticed that in the photograph of the rear, looking down at the magnet/basket, there is a white ring around the outer edge. This is a foam gasket that was used when fitting into the Nova-6 cabinet and as it has been glued, no attempt has been made to remove it.
TESTING:
Immediately prior to dismantling I fired up the speaker system one last time and gave these woofers a real "thumping" - no issues at all, pretty good sound.
Not audiophile by any stretch of the imagination but they give good account of themselves and would be great for some "general purpose" custom loudspeaker system
Both of these woofers have been stored "cone down" on stiff cardboard and then sealed within plastic to prevent dirt/dust getting into the suspension. This is how they will be shipped, if being shipped.
