HISTORY:
I am cleaning up ALL the various leads, patch cables and interesting "offcuts" that we had on hand hanging around in the general workshop area.
This is a reel off cut, just 165cm in length but suitable for a customised multi-core patch lead.
Outer soft(ish) plastic light Grey sheath which is easy to both handle and work with when preparing for the connectors.
Inside there are 25 cores (7 strand not solid), all coloured coded. Wrapped around the cores is an Aluminium foil shield plus an un-tinned 6 strand wire.
I assume there is a twisting of the cores over the cable length but I cannot confirm this when only cutting off a very short section at each end.
Cable sheath is 7.95mm OD
It's been a long time but I think this type of cable was used for wired remotes on some of the big tape machines and also for interconnecting some Agilent test equipment "modules". Especially suited where the connectors should be 25 way, such as the D25 series.
COSMETIC CONDITION:
NO damage or "nicks" in the sheath
NO damage to the 25 cores, pretinned strands are clean and shiny (not bare Copper strands)
The Aluminium foil wrap is very thin, care needs to be taken when stripping back the cable at either end.
This short length of multicore cable is now within a sealed, clear plastic packet while it waits for a purpose in life!
