PREAMBLE:
Oh my, yet another slice of history on vinyl from the mists of time that I have found in one of my boxes of "older" vinyl gems relating to music, the broadcast industry and just all things to do with "the old days" in broadcasting
Not many will remember these recordings, including myself! I was just a "tinkle" in my parents eyes when this vinyl was released ...
The radio and television producer, Kermit Schafer, put together this compilation of what we might call "bloopers" but at the time, the Americans often referred to these on-air mistakes as BONERS! Funny ... when I was a kid, the word Boner had a completely different meaning ..
So what is on this record? The narrator is American, very typical "sounding" for the times. The content is grabs from both radio and television broadcasts on both British and American stations, although the American boners tend to dominate (as Americans do!). There are no track separations - just one long track on each side. Overall, there seems to be a focus on bloopers (boners) relating to sexual innuendo's but there are also plain old mistakes by the reader or program presenter. Very dated of course but (for me at least) slightly amusing (subtle smile)
Really of interest only to those who like to delve into history, nostalgia and listen to how things used to be or "on air" mistakes that were made ...
This is a 10" vinyl record, it is not shellac, in fact this is when a very hard plastic formulation was used and it was often marketed as unbreakable. The groove sizes are fine for playback on contemporary turntables although I wouldn't suggest playing this vinyl with your $1000 styli!

Cat# V-29
Cream/Burgundy label
1954
Canadian release
Mono audio
Heavy cardboard cover is in good condition, this means that there are no tears, no personal writing and no seam splits. The print is very basic 3 colour (Blue, Red & Yellow on the front and only Black on the rear), probably "state of the art" printing back in the mid 1950's!
New inner 10" plastic liner sleeve
Vinyl (this is a vinyl record NOT shellac) record is in good condition, visually inspected under a bright White halogen light source and I can see a few scratches but the surface is clean. Quite frankly this vinyl is in pretty amazing after all these years. Just looking at the vinyl is not a great way to judge the condition so I then played the release ENTIRELY, every single track on each side, there are no significant issues with surface noise nor clicks/pops and certainly no mistracking - Yes, for sure there are clicks n pops, mostly single clicks but at times occurring for a few revolutions as a result of a scratch(s), it all adds to the authenticity! Perfectly listenable although to my ears, the recordings were at times just a bit muffled (lack of high end) and certainly mono - you need to pay attention to the various snippets of audio.
