HISTORY:

My "world" is 'the arts' and more specifically, music, artwork and hand crafted/decorated chinaware's.

I am not a film enthusiast but an associate has asked me to find new owners for THEIR large collection of photographic and film items ... this is one of those items.

While the world of 8mm/Super 8mm is not my area of expertise, I am doing my best to establish the condition of each item that I am listing.

I tend to be quite detailed in my item descriptions, please READ all the details to decide if this item may interest you.

Now, on with the description ...

Title: ELVIS Paradise Hawaiian Style

Catalogue # M-61

Original movie was released in 1965, this small format shortened version would have been from the 1970's

7" Unbranded (but stamped MADE IN USA on each side) Black plastic reel which is stated to contain 370 feet, not the normal 400'

Content description

Elvis Presley, Girls, Helicopter pilots (Elvis Presley), Girls, Romance, Elvis Presley Sings a song, Girls - you get the idea!

COSMETIC CONDITION:

USED

CLEAN

Film stock and reel are undamaged, leader is fitted and undamaged.

Outer case is a formed styrofoam with a hinge on one side.

There is no damage to the case or it's hinge nor the outer clear plastic cover.

Slight vinegar odour from the film, I am told this is normal for film stock around 50 years old

I have given the case (inside and out) a "sterilisation spray", I always do this with "old" items - case only, not the reel of film!

NO personal names or other writing on the case or label

TESTING:

Test projector is the ELMO 1200 that I have on hand at the moment.

Film looks to be clean and in good condition, sprocket holes are not damaged.

I ran the film through the projector for the first five minutes, to observe the colour and sound.

First thing I noticed is "Where are the credits etc?" After the film leader and a length of blank film (Black) this reel goes straight into the movie, with Elvis arriving on the island, looking for a job and of course, singing to a group of young children (as you do)

The colour has definitely shifted towards the Red end of town although there are "hints" of Greens and Blues at times! - the film is clean and sharp, just a dominance of Red & Pinks!

Sound is good, crisp, clean and at a good level and not muffled

In my opinion, after this very brief test, I am happy that the film is as stated on the case and looks to be in reasonable "technical" condition.

Anyway, I am very fastidious and careful with these films and I have now packed it back into the original case AND sealed the film within clear plastic - waiting for a Super 8 film enthusiast to give it a new home
