HISTORY:

My "world" is 'the arts' and more specifically, music, artwork and hand crafted/decorated chinaware's.

I am not a film enthusiast but an associate has asked me to find new owners for THEIR large collection of photographic and film items ... this is one of those items.

While the world of 8mm/Super 8mm is not my area of expertise, I am doing my best to establish the condition of each item that I am listing.

I tend to be quite detailed in my item descriptions, please READ all the details to decide if this item may interest you.

Now, on with the description ...

BUSCHER-FILM - Super 8 Film

Produced in Germany

Extensive (but not exclusive as there is a little English) use of German language on the packaging

Colour

Sound

No voice-over, music only, which sounds like German pop-rock (not bad either)

Title: UFA Fußball Ballet 2

Catalogue # 200-1

Released 1978

Here we have some overpackaging .... large polystrene formed case but inside is a small 5" reel containing 200 feet of film

5" unbranded (but with feet/metre scales) Black plastic reel

Content description

I believe this is the second release from UFA relating to soccer/football. This film is "quirky" and just a bit on the weird side, perhaps this is what Germans like? Yes, it's all about the soccer and is basically an edited stream of game scenes, coaches and attendees (wiping their nose on their armsleeve) - Oh my! Very basic image effects added, take the film back a second or so and replay again - type of thing - similar to our "video referee" that is used to determining if THAT really was a goal, offside etc

Perhaps a European soccer fan will spot some past superstar in this film but to me, well it's all just a bit "out there"

COSMETIC CONDITION:

USED

CLEAN

Film stock and reel are undamaged, leader is fitted and undamaged.

Outer case is a formed styrofoam with hinging on one side.

There is no damage to the case or it's hinge nor the outer clear plastic cover.

No undesirable vinegar smells coming from the film although it does have a slight "musty" smell

I have given the case (inside and out) a "sterilisation spray", I always do this with "old" items.

NO personal names or other writing on the case or label

TESTING:

Tested with the ELMO ST 1200 I have available, and away we go ....

I have around 2 minutes off the reel for testing

Leader is pretty short but functional (just 30cm or so)

Colour film and YEAH! it is actually still full colour, not the Red shifted film that I have come across a lot lately. Images are clean and sharp

Sound, hmmm it takes a bit to get going .... what does that mean? For the first 20 seconds or so I heard "bits" of audio but nothing I could make sense of and then SUDDENLY the audio sprang to life, music beautiful music is provided as a background to the quite basic image manipulation used in the film. Intial music was "so so" and nothing startling but then some really good German (lyrics being sung in German) pop rock faded in, this was good and "made" the film more interesting (for me)

Curious about the film though, why did UFA create it? Surely the home movie market would find this rather boring? Perhaps it was on television at the time and this is a print copy.

I am very fastidious and careful with these Super 8 films and I have now packed the film package within sealed, clear plastic while it awaits a new owner

USED Exactly as described
