This is one of our "less fancy" cake lifters, actually used for children's parties because it is easy to use and if dropped and broken, it's not the end of the world - unlike some of our other more special cake lifters.

We believe this is a Chinese sourced porcelain blank which has either been decorated at the porcelain works OR the artwork has been applied locally. This is definitely transferware and not hand decorated.

Additionally, the words NAROOMA N.S.W. have been added below the artwork using Gold gilding

BRIMLY AUSTRALIA - Cake Slice Lifter ONLY

Circa 1980's

White Chinese Porcelain base colouring

Australian native Budgerigar (Gamilaraay Aboriginal language name ‘Betcherrygah') standing on a tree branch

We have always assumed this cake lifter was offered as a souvenir item (Narooma NSW) - we acquired this cake slice while travelling in the South Coast area many years ago. We just wanted a "pretty ordinary" cake lifter and the Narooma text didn't concern us at the time.
