50+ years ago, children could learn to read along with spoken word and music on vinyl records, those released through Disney were considered one of the best. These were the days when a record player was commonplace, there wasn't all that much to offer on television (certainly no streaming services) and of course, smartphones were a pipe dream (or nightmare, depending how you look at them)

This 7" record, must be played at 33 as you would for a vinyl album

The female narrator's name is unknown and it is not stated within the book or on the record labels. She does introduce herself as "Tinkerbell" and has such a very nice voice, not a twangy American accent!

Side A: Tinkerbell introduces the story and begins reading, nice clear prompts to turn the page in the book at the appropriate time. The complete story is read on Side A. The story revolves around Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy. Mickey begins the saga by accidently causing a magical bean to grow, unfortunately a giant was living at the top of the by now very large beanstalk - only one thing for it, chop it down. The story ends for everyone (except that giant) happily ever after.

Side B: This side has no story line, it is not a continuation of the story on Side A. Instead there are three short songs "What A Happy Day", "Fe Fi Fo Hum" and "My Favourite Dream"

The book has nice clean, colourful graphics with short sentences. Text print is quite large and easy to read.

Some very light occasional scratches or marks but nothing too dramatic HOWEVER ... not all is well with this record!

Right out on the edge it has suffered slight heat exposure, which means there is a light warping on one edge.

I then played BOTH sides of the record.

The A side (storyline) is fine, no mistracking at all - this is where the warping is in a "downwards" direction and the tonearm was able to ride it well - not even any thumping!

B side however (the up side of the warp) provides some challenges to the tonearm and I had a lot of mistracking on the first song (What A Happy Day), the next two songs were then fine - no issues. Two out of three ain't too bad!

Another thing I noticed, my auto-return does not work with this record. The tonearm arc isn't great enough so instead of the tonearm returning to rest, it just merrily goes round and round for infinity (or until you manually return the arm to rest)

BOOK:

CLEAN

NO missing pages

NO tears

NO personal names

Barely any graphic discolouration at all - pretty impressive after more than 50 years!

On page 24 (the story line actually finishes on page 23) there is an outline of Tinkerbell and I do suspect a child has infilled the graphic outline. It actually has been done pretty well anyway.

This is a nice piece of audio & childs entertainment history from that wonderful world of Disney.

I have placed the record within a new plastic inner sleeve to help protect it from paper dust and the whole book is now within a sealed clear plastic package.

USED Exactly as described
