White neoclassical relief decoration
The primary decoration is on the top of the lid ... meet the Greek goddess, Aurora! She is the goddess of Dawn, the first to wake and brings dawn across the sky.
Aurora is driving her chariot and she is wearing a half moon diadem in her hair and flying classical robes. Her small chariot is pulled to the left across a cloud by two rearing horses.
The rim of the lid is finished with a continuous band of leaves and flowers.
The base of the jewellery box has various reliefs, all depicting cherubs partaking in various activites.

The lid also has a stamping, on the underside there is a single letter which looks like a Y
This type of stamped impression underneath dates from the period 1908 ~ 1969 so the true year of manufacture could be anywhere in this time period, although we 'favoured' 1950's as most likely based on where we know this piece of jasperware came from.
COSMETIC CONDITION:
CLEAN
NO chips - this includes the top lip of the bottom section AND the mating section on the lid
NO discolouration
NO cracks
NO damage to the relief artwork - all of the artwork has been carefully examined and no missing areas or damage was observed.
