Ex broadcast equipment but of course useable anywhere that you need a good secure knob to fit either a flat side or all circular 1/4" shaft without using a grub screw.
Collet knobs are often used in professional equipment because there is no spline fitting or grub screws which will become loose over time.
These knobs have an all metal centre (usually brass) fitting which grips the control shaft tightly when the topside nut is turned. Once secured they stay that way!
Another advantage of these knobs is that the top cap can be changed for various colours although I only have Black for these at the moment.
To access and fit a collet knob ...
Flip off the knob top cap, carefully unscrew the central bolt and the knob will then slide easily off the component shaft. Refitting a collet knob is the reverse procedure.
