USED decommissioned broadcast industry equipment
Decommissioned due to organisation wide upgrading of equipment
Installed in the early 2000's and I believe this product line is still supported by Ensemble Designs, USA
This is the 1RU version of the "Avenue" Signal Integration System from Ensemble Designs USA
I am offering the frame ONLY*, the 3 card slots are EMPTY although I do have some cards available separately
ONLY* means the basic frame, with integral power supply AND the optional 5035 System Control Board
Avenue is a slot based signal integration system which is used worldwide in broadcast, mobile, satellite, cable, worship and post production facilities.
The Avenue system range of modules includes video up/down conversion, audio embedding, synchronization, conversion, routing, noise reduction, protection switches, test signal generators and more.
Here is some information about the Frame
The 1RU Avenue frame accommodates any mix of up to three audio or video modules. Modules plug into a universal motherboard; no special rear connectors are needed. In addition to the three module slots, there is a dedicated slot for the 5035 System Control module. A universal in-line power supply (5010) is provided with each frame.
Video and audio modules for conversion, distribution and synchronization plug into a universal frame motherboard. Plastic overlays for each module type are provided and slip over the corresponding BNCs on the backplane to identify the input and output designations on each type of module.
Here is some information specific to the 5035 System Control Board (included with this frame)
3Gb/s, HD, SD, MPEG & Audio modules all in one frame!
- Control and monitor all modules in the system from one or many locations—locally or worldwide
- Easily adjust video levels, timing, audio delay, and other parameters
- Customize module menus
- Alarm generation and log
- Download new module software—free for the life of the product!
- User Levels for security
- Module lockout for critical paths
- Use any combination of Control Panels and PCs for control and monitoring
- Avenue’s user friendly protocol is available for interfacing to automation and other third-party control systems

Avenue Series
Signal Integration System Frame (slots are not populated)
Integral 5010 Power Supply is included (NOTE: this runs off 12V DC @ 5A - NOT AC)
Optional 5035 System Control Board IS included - this gives much greater flexibility to the frame, including remote access and control via the ports on the rear panel.
Hot swap capable
There is a great deal of information about these systems online so if you look HERE all will be revealed!
CONDITION:
Excellent, no case damage
Clean - I have seen some of these frames online being offered by others in terrible condition, makes you wonder just where they were previously installed!
NO front panel damage, copper fingers all as they should be (often get bent by careless users)
TESTING:
This is where I have some problems! I used to have SDI equipment in particular but nothing any longer. I do know this equipment WAS fully functional prior to decommissioning (deemed obsolete to the broadcaster's needs) but my abilities to confirm functionality "off site" are very limited ... anyway I gave it a shot!
Powered up with an external 12V DC power supply - note that the DC input connector is unusual, hopefully the new owner has the correct plugs for this connector.
Green led indicates
Very low level fan noise (small internal fan)
Far right matrix display module on the 5035 Control board lights up green
I made no attempts to "talk" to the system via Ethernet or by other means - I really have no reason to suspect the equipment, I know it has been functioning fine.
As part of my tests made on the separately advertised cards, I did use all three slots and these seem to be fine as well.
Astute viewers will notice that I accidently left the card templates overlaying the rear connectors! Of course those templates will be supplied with the cards advertised separately and NOT with this empty frame.
SPECIAL NOTES:
This is a heavy piece of equipment (5.2Kg or 11.5 Pounds) which means that international shipping costs would likely be prohibitive BUT if a user just needed the 5035 board for example then I would be fine extracting the System Control Board, packing in ESD material and shipping - this is not a heavy card and certainly would cost far less to ship than the whole frame!
Same would apply to the 5010 power supply but this is not so easy to extract from the frame and I haven't weighed it - ask me about this option of just sending the power supply board.
The price would remain THE SAME - it would just save massively on the shipping for the buyer and the then empty case goes to the scrap dealer!
I see "others" offering these frames online for much higher prices. I decided to offer this frame at a price point that may be attractive to an international buyer to consider having the complete frame shipped (saves me time & effort dismantling the frame!), offsetting the high cost of international shipping.
