BACKGROUND HISTORY
This type of trinket was popular back in the 1950's, I remember my Grandma's house had an assortment of these Brass trinkets on her mantlepiece in the loungeroom.
Funny enough, it appears the maker of these shoes also thought they could be marketed as an extremely small ashtray! At the heel end of the shoe is a groove which looks to very much like a cigarette "rest".
METAL ALLOY SHOES (A PAIR)
No manufacturer markings or coding at all on either shoe
I suspect English made, many of this type of trinket came from England during the 1950's
Material: Brass
Looks to have been formed using a sand mould, inside one of the shoes I can see some dags of metal.
A simple pattern has been cut into the brass at the front
DIMENSIONS:
Each shoe measures 76mm length x 30mm wide x 8.85mm height
Each shoe is identical i.e there is no Right or Left side
WEIGHT: each shoe is 30g
COSMETIC CONDITION:
Like other pieces of Brass or metal alloy items I am advertising at the moment, these shoes have had a good "rub up" - no chemical aids or machine assisted polishing, just hard manual rubbing, rubbing and more rubbing ...
No physical damage to either shoe
No personalised markings of any kind
The surface is currently a medium sheen Yellow externally with some dullness inside the shoe, it is really hard to get inside these tiny shoes to polish them up.
Now that I have finished describing these, they are now in a sealed clear plastic packet to slow down the onslaught of inevitable oxidisation in the future (where the Yellow becomes more and more dull)
Some people like an original patina but quite frankly we would rather the shoes looked reasonably clean and shiny!
