HISTORY:
We are cleaning out our "overgrown" collection of UK & Irish chinaware because we have quality chinaware coming out of our ears! Whilst some pieces or collections have been kept, many must find new homes to accommodate our latest passion - fine, artistic chinaware from the 19th Century
If Irish pottery is close to your heart, you might also like to take a look HERE
We found some more of our beautiful Belleek porcelain~china that needs to find a new caring home.
Never heard, seen or touched some lovely Belleek? This is very light, fine porcelain/china made with a special clay mixture which comprises a high proportion of frit. Frit? what on earth is frit? Take a look HERE to find out more
Genuine Belleek wares are distinctly different to your 'it all looks the same to me' English chinawares, just hold it in your hand and you will immediately notice how delicate and lightweight it is, with the surface often being 'patterned' with the porcelain reflecting with a "shell-like" sheen.
Another great thing about Belleek ware is that it can be accurately dated, the company was very methodical when it came to their dating system so that you can easily see when that gorgeous piece of Belleek in your display cabinet was made.
Belleek wares are highly sought after, watch out for fake Belleek ware (typically with no Belleek markings)!
Belleek began operations in the mid 19th Century and the type of clay they use plus high quality craftsmanship (or craftswomanship) makes their wares to be in very high demand.
For us, our Irish Belleek ware was highly prized but now it needs to move on, making way for some special 19th Century figurines
DLAT Rating: 10/10 (Darling Look At This!)
Yes, this piece of Belleek rates right up there at 10/10 for appearance and "feel"
Once you have held a piece of Belleek, you will always instantly know whenever you come across it again - so light and delicate, just gorgeous!
