HISTORY:
This is a pretty antiquated turntable accessory but may still be of use to someone who would like to experiment with it's use.
Looks to have been originally designed as an active anti-static system which uses a removeable soft roller that sits on top of the vinyl whilst rotating. There is no vertical brush such as those used in "clean the groove while you move" systems so I don't believe this was ever intended to keep the grooves clean.
Flexible, user selected mounting location with the mount using a vinyl/rubber cup to which an adhesive should be added to keep the arm in the desired position in relation to the platter.
The height of the mounting "pin" can be adjusted.
The arm is flat clear perspex with two holes so that the "apparent length" can be changed by the user.
The "far end" of this perspex arm has spring wire embedded into it, it cannot be removed from the arm but does have free movement inside the perspex.
One of the spring wire arms accepts the small Red coloured roller brush. This means the brush can be changed or substituted for another type of roller if desired. The "other side" of this spring wire has a small White plastic tube and I have no idea what it's purpose was originally (or it is the remanents of something else from all those years ago)
Previous obviously, we never used this type of arm in our studios but I thought it may be useful to someone for experimentation.
Let's get down to some details about this contraption ...
UNBRANDED - Turntable Accessory
Materials: Vinyl/Rubber, Perspex, Spring Wire
Comprises 3 parts: Mounting post, perspex arm & removeable roller
MOUNTING POST:
29mm diameter vinyl/rubber base
Not a suction mount, this is intended to be fixed in position using an adhesive of the users choice.
Adjustable central 1.5mm diameter Chromed pin height 34 ~ 42mm with the pin set in position using a side thumb screw
Perspex arm is slight wider at the pivot end (14.75mm) than the "roller end" (10.5mm) and the perspex is 3mm thickness
The arm total length is 200mm with two mounting holes which mate with the supporting pin at 195mm and 165mm, so the effective length of the arm can be adjusted.
The arm weighs 6g without the roller fitted, adding the roller increases the weight to 11g
The small Red roller brush (feels soft) has a central "rubber like" core through which the spring wire fits securely. This brush measures 18.5mm length and approximately 12mm diameter. When mounted onto the spring wire, this brush rotates freely.
COSMETIC CONDITION:
USED
CLEAN
NO parts are broken
NO cracks or other damage to the mounting post or the arm
The Red roller brush looks to be in good condition
I have now placed these parts into a bed of bubblewrap and sealed within clear plastic with a stiff card backing to protect the arm in particular. This is how it will be supplied.
