HISTORY:
Adderley Floral and Figurine China Co Ltd, this piece was created immediately after their release from the Wartime Concentration Scheme (WWII) in 1950
The company is well known for their floral and figurine work ... here is a typical flower creation
ADDERLEY FLORAL - Pin Dish
Circa 1950 ~ 1956
This Adderley Floral mark was used 1950 ~ 1956, not to be mistaken for the Royal Adderley products which date from the 1960's
This chinaware is translucent, meaning that if held to a light source you can see the shadow of your fingers through the china.
Hand decorated
Pattern: Lavender Lady
Design: Lady in a full 19th Century dress is sitting in the the cottage garden, partaking of afternoon tea (alone), a sundial is also nearby. The cottage is multi-room with thatched roofing.
Slightly "out of the ordinary", instead of the pattern being printed along with the backstamp, it is actually painted onto the scene in Lavender (left bottom edge)
Gold gilding is used to finish the scalloped edge rim
BACKSTAMP:
This is a photograph of the backstamp taken from this piece, not (like others) who just grab a generic photo online!
