HISTORY:
My "world" is 'the arts' and more specifically, music, artwork and hand crafted/decorated chinaware's.
I am not a film enthusiast per se' but an associate has asked me to find new owners for THEIR large collection of photographic and film items ... this is one of those items.
After advertising around 200 films and accessories (with a LOT more to come), now I have decided to see if someone would like a bit of "hardware", a classic (mostly likely Australian made) projector stand. Sure you can get contemporary projector stands and quite cheaply too but this stand oozes nostalgia!
I remember the owner would use this stand in his own home (many years ago now) while having a group of friends over for a 16mm movie "viewing" surrounded by fine chinaware of the same era and his lovely Norman Lindsay's (limited release facsimiles) on the walls - now that was a REAL step back in time. A lot of fun was had by all!
Back to this projector stand ....
I tend to be quite detailed in my item descriptions, please READ all the details to decide if this projector stand may interest you.
Now, on with the description ...
UNBRANDED (if there was a sticker or brand, it has long gone) Projector Dual Platform Stand
Most likely Made In Australia
Green enamel baked finish on steel metalwork, all the metal work is steel (ferrous tested)
Weight is 3Kg
When "put together", this projector stand top platform (for the projector) sits 98cm off the floor and this height is not adjustable.
There are no tilt or swivel adjustments available, the top platform sits level and rigid, as does the lower platform.
Folded size of the stand (approximately) is 109cm length x 44cm wide x 8cm height - this is the sort of sized custom box I would be shipping this stand in.
TOP PLATFORM DIMENSIONS:
Has an edge rim so that you cannot accidently push your projector off onto the floor!
375mm (front to back) x 325mm wide
LOWER PLATFORM DIMENSIONS:
I assume that this is intended for accessories or even for a separate audio amplifier (the owner used to sit a nice valve audio amplifier on this shelf, it was an integral part of his movie system)
385mm (front to back) x 220mm wide and it is offset compared to the top platform above.
The folded metal legs are 16mm OD tubular with flat steel side braces welded in position. At the floor, the tubing is finished with a plastic or rubber cup foot but one foot is missing.
HOW DO YOU USE IT?
To fold up (or assemble for that matter) is a snap, very easy, although when putting it together it can be a bit fiddly fitting the 3x screws with the lower platform and top section.
When folded up, it makes for a nice compact (ish) stand which can easily be slipped away somewhere - I have had this sitting right behind the office door but I can see no purpose for it here (I do have other projectors to check out but have another much more "flexible" projector stand which will also be seeking a new home once I have finished with it.
COSMETIC CONDITION:
USED
All metalwork is unscratched
All metalwork is undamaged in any way (no bend or metal stressed sections!)
Baked enamel finish is quite something, you don't see that sort of finish any more!
While one bottom foot cup is missing, the stand is still quite stable but it should be easy enough getting a replacement from the likes of Bunnings or other general hardware store.
I have no information about how much weight this stand can support but those 16mm projectors with the amplifiers were not light! The stand had no issues with such a weight.
It is most likely that this stand will be shipped (most of the time my orders are shipping as pickup can be difficult to organise due to my travelling around), Australia Post will not accept this stand due to the size, this means it will shipped using a courier service.
Keep in mind that because of my shipping cost structure, the maximum shipping cost will be just $9 anywhere within Australia for this stand OR the shipping is free (within Australia) when orders exceed A$75 value (add a few other things to "top up" the order and achieve free shipping)
SPECIAL NOTE:
No idea (and neither does the owner) about the value of these, we did see one on Etsy for A$360! that seems a bit steep to us, the owner just wants the stand to find a new home to live in and support your lovely projection equipment from yesteryear.
